Day 4 - Thursday 6th June 2024

Today was our last full day of activities at Greatwood, we can't believe how fast the week has flown by! We split into two groups. One group in the morning, took part in duck racing, Miss Richie's duck got through to the final but fell at the final hurdle. After break they then split into teams to build the most effective dam, most of the children finished the morning with sitting in the stream to score points. The other group meanwhile had been taking part in team challenges including crossing the river, space hopper races and gutterball. After lunch the groups swapped round and did the activity they hadn't already done. We continue to have lovely weather and after a hearty tea we sat around the campfire to sing songs, play games and listen to a story. We finished off with toasting marshmallows before sending the children off for their last night in the cabins.

Day 3 - Wednesday 5th June 2024

After breakfast, we travelled to Kilve Court to spend an exciting day doing various activities, which included high ropes, grass sledging, a beach walk and the climbing wall. We were lucky to have some lovely, sunny weather for the day. During the beach walk, we were able to find some amazing fossils, such as the devil's toenails and ammonites. The children challenged themselves during the other activities and it was great to see so many of them encouraging each other. The staff would like to congratulate all children who challenged themselves to go higher or faster. In the evening, we took part in a general knowledge quiz and we are waiting with bated breath to find out the winning team on Friday.

Day 2 - Tuesday 4th June 2024

Today was a day spent on site at Greatwood doing lots of fun activities. There was a carousel of four challenges that we all took part in throughout the day: nightline, one match, low ropes and archery.  The children really enjoyed the nightline as they loved getting covered in mud and water. During one match, we learnt about fire safety and the triangle of fire before collecting some firewood and creating some fires of our own! In the evening, we went for another lovely walk and collected sticks ready for our campfire on Thursday. Before bedtime, we packed our bags ready for an exciting day at Kilve tomorrow.

Day 1 - Monday 3rd June 2024

We arrived at Greatwood at lunchtime after a really good journey. After being introduced to all the Greatwood staff the children were excited to find out which was their cabin. Lunch was eaten as a picnic in the sunshine before heading out on a trek in the Quantock hills. The children were pleased to see cake after their hike! The first dinner was sweet and sour chicken or jacket potato followed by a scrummy apple crumble. We celebrated a birthday by singing to the birthday boy and enjoying a sweet treat. The teachers are all crossing everything that the night is peaceful.
